AG Saying Goodbye
Submitted 05-26-2011 – Nahanni
Today we are giving notice to all of AG that we are closing our doors. We want you to know that we have been struggling with this for a while. Things started to crumble in November and after several breaks, long discussions, restructuring of AG, dropping teams and other strategies to keep AG going we have now made the hard decision to say goodbye. We want you to know that this was a decision that was discussed over a course of months and this was not an easy conclusion to come to. We want you to remember all the good times and recognize that with all of you by our side we made an incredible community that has done things that no other community has ever done before. In respect to that memory we want to leave AG in its former glory and remember it for the great times we had as there so were many. We are going to be posting a “My best AG memory was...” post in the AG forums. I sent an e-mail to Robin Walker and he responded with a very positive response that I wanted to share.
”Shucks, sad to hear this. Still, I hope you're proud of what you managed to build -it stood out amidst the other TF2 communities, for sure, and I heard nothing but good things from the players who interacted with it.”- Robin Walker
AG will still be visible since the AG website and forums will remain open and active to those who want to participate. Mumble will also be active so we can still have members joining together and play games or just mingle. The DM servers will remain open as well but will under the title “the Unit” rather than AG. As for the “community vs pro” events there are plans in the making right now to continue with this event. I think it is a very important event for the community and just because AG stops hosting them does not mean that someone else cannot take over and continue the tradition. In addition, we still have 30 days for the BRINK server since we just got it recently so we might as well utilize it to its fullest. We have enjoyed working with you all and we hope that AG was a good place to call home. We also hope that the thoughts of AG will bring only good memories of the time we shared together playing the game we all love....Team Fortress 2.
